A special congratulations to team Starvation Stompers who definitely helped “stomp out hunger” by collecting 1,076 pounds to win the canned food drive competition! Members of the team include: Adam Walters, Dan Vonachen, Kollet Walty, Scott Weistart, Roger West, Mark Whitlock, Doug Wilkins, Jack Wilkins, Bob Wilkins, Alan Willadsen, Reg Willis, Becky Wood, Cathy Worlow & Jim Yocum.
Our thanks to the Heart of Illinois Harvest who picked up our food donations each week and delivered them to the South Side Mission on our behalf. Heart of Illinois Harvest (HOIH) is a not-for-profit food rescue program that daily transports surplus food to local food agencies for free distribution to those in need. HOIH is “powered” by 76 volunteers (including 14 Board members) whose in-kind services and commitment to eliminating waste of much needed food helps to prevent edible food from going to our landfills.
